I’m Liam and I’m the new Business Operations Administrator at dxw.
Whilst studying for my A-levels, I got my first job which involved making thousands of cups of Coffee at a National Trust property owned by the Rothschild Family. It often attracted a few famous faces and I got to meet a few, including Maggie Smith, Phillip Schofield and Bill Clinton.
In 2013, I started studying business management at the University of Derby. This course covered a wide range of business subjects including Finance, HR & Marketing. These interests led me to my first accounts position during my summer holidays. I really enjoyed this role and working with numbers as well as gaining some great office experience. In 2015, I completed a placement year at Xerox, where I worked on a mobile application used as a sales tool. This was a very enjoyable role, working with an exciting piece of technology.
After completing university, I spent three months in Thailand and Vietnam, learning a lot about different cultures and how other people around the world work. Travelling around different cities, villages and towns was an amazing experience and overall a very good decision.
Now, I’m at dxw working as the business operations administrator, where I will be supporting the business operations team with their finance and HR responsibilities. I am very excited to learn more about how businesses work.
I really enjoy problem-solving, especially when this can help others. I also enjoy being creative and finding the correct solution to any problem.
Out of work, my main interests in life are music and football. I love all music, particularly disco and hip-hop, but I listen to all sorts, but I’m always open to any suggestions. I also support Watford so if I look very happy in the office on a Monday, it’s probably because Watford won.
In the next year, I would like to learn as much as possible about Business Operations, including the reasons why decisions are made and the effects they can have on a working environment. I also plan to learn as much as I can about HR and finance as I really enjoy working with people and learning from others.
