The Business is Great initiative followed the earlier Business In You campaign. The existing site needed to be replaced with the Business is Great branding, messages and information. A further challenge was the tight timeframe, with a hard deadline of the high profile campaign launch at 10 Downing Street.
We were able to work quickly to rebuild the existing site and populate it with the new campaign content. We worked with the Great Business team to implement the visual identity for the site, which was provided by their advertising partner. We added the new content on the initiative into very simple sections, which were based on the four business pillars of the campaign: grow, export, lead, nurture. The homepage acts as a dynamic source of news-based features, allowing start-ups to tell their stories, and incorporates video content and an interactive comment facility.
After an intensive and rapid turnaround, the site was unveiled in time for the Business is Great launch at 10 Downing Street, and the resulting press coverage led to heavy site traffic. Since launch, the site has had over 260,000 unique visitors, and generated over 5,000 visits to the gov.uk finance finder. Following user research and feedback post-launch, we made a number of further usability improvements to the homepage.
