Introducing our first Head of Delivery, Clare Young

Hello, I’m Clare, dxw’s first Head of Delivery 🙂

I have spent most of my career building delivery teams in the public and charity sector. I started at the Government Digital Service working with central government departments to get them prepared for the GOV.UK public beta. I loved the agile, user-centred approach to public service delivery and the culture of iteration and learning.

Next, I joined Home Office Digital and found my niche in Delivery Management (I like Emily Webber’s description of the Delivery Manager role). After a couple of years as a Delivery Manager, I became Head of Agile Delivery. I led a community of Delivery Managers, championed agile best practice within the Home Office and oversaw the running of a large portfolio of delivery teams building services both for the public and for civil servants. I wrote about what agile means to the Home Office here.

Most recently before joining dxw, I led the digital delivery team at Comic Relief. We built user-focused products and services that helped raise millions of pounds and withstood huge traffic spikes during our campaign peaks. Many charities and not for profit organisations are not big enough to have the size of development team similar to Comic Relief, so I am particularly proud of our work to open source our products so they could be shared amongst the sector.

I was drawn to dxw because of their focus on making the public sector better through great digital delivery and sustainable capability building. The dxw values and commitment to approaching work with an agile mindset was another big draw, not to mention the fact it is an award winning organisation with a great reputation. I had a very warm welcome when I joined at the start of this month and have felt part of the team from day one. I can’t wait to get stuck in properly.
