My first week at dxw

Well hello everyone!

This is my second day at dxw. I’m still finding my feet. But I’ve been made to feel very welcome and the excellent induction materials have been very easy to work through.

I’ve joined dxw as Head of User Research. So I’ll be looking to develop the user research practice here, help the user researchers do their best work, and improve our user research offer for our clients.

I’m so glad to be joining dxw. The great work we’re doing around government has given the agency a fantastic reputation. And I already know quite a few of the team.

About me

I’ve been designing and making digital things since the early 1980s – yes I am quite old. I started out doing interaction design and mostly front-end development, but since then I’ve gradually become more focussed on how people interact with digital things, and how we can design and make products and services that work well for the people who need them.

Most recently I was Head of User Research at the Government Digital Service and Head of the Cross-Government User Research Community. In those roles, I worked to improve user research practice across government, and to build the growing community of user researchers in departments and agencies.

Meeting the team

This week I’m going to be visiting the dxw teams and user researchers at our different client locations. So I look forward to meeting the rest of the team soon.
